Shelley Hamill is a Professor and Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) at Winthrop University's Department of Physical Education, Sport and Human Performance. With over 30 years' teaching experience across K-12 and higher education, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in health education, specializing in pedagogy and human sexuality.
Hamill co-chaired South Carolina's Health and Safety Curriculum Standards, developing skills-based K-12 programming requirements. Her research addresses women's health, sexuality education, and pedagogical innovation in health curricula.
Awards include:
- Governor's Award for HIV/AIDS advocacy (North Carolina)
- U.S. Surgeon General recognition for Tribal community work
- Two-time Health Education Professional of the Year (SCAAHE)
- SCAHPERD's highest Honor Award
She serves as Winthrop's Chief Faculty Marshal.
