Sheila Browne is an Associate Professor of Viola at Lynn Conservatory of Music, Lynn University. She holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Ireland, and maintains an international career as a performer, educator, and advocate for music as a unifying force. She has performed globally with renowned ensembles and soloists, recorded for major labels, and premiered multiple concerti.
Education: B.M., Juilliard School; M.M., Rice University Shepherd School of Music. She studied under Karen Tuttle and Kim Kashkashian, and has taught at institutions including UNC School of the Arts, University of Delaware, and part-time at Duke University and NYU. Currently directs the Karen Tuttle Viola Workshop and serves as interim artistic director of Techne Music.
Research interests focus on holistic music pedagogy, viola performance technique, and fostering cross-cultural musical collaboration. Her students populate major programs worldwide.
Awards include the DAAD Scholarship and 2016 William Primrose Recitalist honor. She has served on the American Viola Society Executive Board and participated in global viola congresses.
