Sheena Sullivan

Sheena Sullivan is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University and the University of Adelaide, specializing in infectious diseases epidemiology. She holds a PhD from UCLA (2011) and an MPH from the University of Western Australia (2003). Her primary affiliation is with Monash Health's Medicine department. She previously led the WHO Collaborating Centre for Influenza in Melbourne (2011-2023) and currently advises the WHO on influenza burden and vaccine effectiveness. Her research focuses on vaccine efficacy mechanisms, sero-epidemiology, and respiratory virus surveillance, with over 200 publications in top journals like NEJM and The Lancet. She co-leads the $6M+ Aerosol Infection Research project and serves as Associate Editor for Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses and International Journal of Epidemiology. Her work addresses vaccine impact in vulnerable populations and post-pandemic surveillance challenges.
