Shayna Morrison

Shayna Morrison is a Research Associate and Instructor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Criminology within Kent State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her work focuses on social health through neurosociological frameworks.

Research interests include:

• Gender and racial equity in healthcare systems
• Societal touch-deprivation and therapeutic interventions
• Haptic technology applications in social neuroscience
• Community policing and public health surveillance

She has contributed to major projects like the CDC Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System and Kent State's 2021 Campus Climate Survey. Current electrophysiological research examines neuro-social interactions using haptic technologies.

Publications explore sociological dimensions of trauma and crisis response, particularly regarding compassion fatigue in caregiving and emotion regulation in opioid epidemic responders.
