Shawon Rahman

Shawon Rahman is Professor of Computer Science at UH Hilo and Faculty Fellow at NREL. With a Ph.D. in Software Engineering, his research spans cybersecurity, IoT vulnerabilities, and digital forensics.

He leads NSF/DOE-funded projects on secure energy systems and STEM pathway development. Recent publications analyze medical IoT risks, security governance models, and behavioral factors in technology adoption.

As Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal on Cryptography and Information Security, Dr. Rahman advances threat mitigation frameworks. He develops cybersecurity curricula and mentors underrepresented students in computing fields.
