Shawna Hollen

Dr. Shawna Hollen is an Associate Professor of Physics and Materials Science at the University of New Hampshire's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. She holds a PhD in Physics from Brown University and researches the electronic and structural properties of 2D materials using scanning probe microscopy techniques.

Research highlights:

• Charge density wave phases and dynamics in layered materials
• Defect engineering and nanoscale inhomogeneities in 2D systems
• Surface functionalization and intercalation mechanisms

Her laboratory develops advanced characterization methods including autonomous atomic force microscopy for high-throughput material discovery. Dr. Hollen teaches courses spanning quantum mechanics, condensed matter physics, and experimental techniques.
