Shawn Womack is a Professor and Chair of the Theatre & Dance Department at Colorado College. She holds an MFA in Experimental Choreography from the University of California, Riverside. Her work integrates choreography with interdisciplinary approaches, including visual media and ethnographic research to explore themes of memory, place, and identity. She previously led the Shawn Womack Dance Projects, a contemporary performance company active nationally and internationally. Notable choreographic works include Drift (2015) and Terrain (2013), premiered in Kazan, Russia by Pantera.
Her teaching focuses on choreography, improvisation, and participatory arts, collaborating with Political Science professor John Gould on The Art of Insurgency. Awards include NEA and Ohio Arts Council fellowships. As department chair, she oversees academic and performance programs at Colorado College.
Recent choreographic collaborations include projects at UCLA, Iowa State University, and the National Theatre of Tatarstan. Her research emphasizes site-specific performance and interdisciplinary artistic practices.
