Shawn Webb

Shawn Webb serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law while concurrently acting as Managing Attorney for the First District Public Defender's Office in Dakota County. He previously held managing roles in Hennepin County Public Defender's Office and the MN Public Defender's Trial Team, specializing in complex forensic/scientific criminal trials across Minnesota.

He created and teaches the Misdemeanor Defense Externship and Advanced Misdemeanor Defense Externships, blending practical courtroom experience with academic training. Courses emphasize Minnesota criminal procedure, client representation strategies, and externship placements tailored to student interests like juvenile law.

Mr. Webb focuses on mentoring new public defenders through co-counseling, trial training, and teaching at the MN Public Defender's Trial Institute. His work integrates real-world legal practice with educational outreach through structured externship programs requiring 200-hour fieldwork commitments.
