Shawn Pearcy

Dr. Shawn Pearcy is a Professor in the Life Sciences Department at Wayne State College. He serves as the contact for the RHOP dental hygiene and dentistry programs. His expertise spans biology, human physiology, vertebrate embryology, and physiological ecology. He is affiliated with professional organizations including the American Physiological Society and the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology.

Research Focus: Dr. Pearcy's work examines protein and amino acid metabolism in vertebrates, including the effects of dietary protein on gastrointestinal efficiency and enzyme activity. His studies explore the expression of PKC in intestinal cells under nutrient deficiencies and the role of amino acid complementation in dietary requirements.

Advising & Programs: He coordinates the RHOP dental hygiene program and integrates interdisciplinary approaches in his teaching and research.
