Shawn Fisher

Shawn Fisher is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Department of History & Political Science at Harding University. His research focuses on U.S. History, Arkansas History, African-American History, Military History, and Gender Studies. He holds a PhD from the University of Memphis (2007–2013), an M.Ed from Harding University (2001–2006), and a B.A. in History from Harding University (1991–1997). His work explores themes such as Southern soldiers, masculinity, and historical sovereignty, emphasizing the intersection of past and present.

Research Output: Fisher’s publications include analyses of Arkansas’s role in the Great War, National Guard dynamics, and gender studies tied to historical events like the Little Rock Crisis. These works highlight regional military contributions and sociocultural narratives.
