Shawn Carson is a Senior Lecturer and Entrepreneurship Curriculum Director in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship at the University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business. He teaches in the undergraduate entrepreneurship minor program and is affiliated with the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Carson holds a B.S. in Industrial Technology from East Carolina University (ECU), an MBA from UT's Professional MBA program (2002), and an Ed.D. from East Tennessee State University (2018).
His research interests focus on entrepreneurship, strategic planning, equity investment, and risk analysis in entrepreneurial contexts. He brings over 20 years of experience working with startups and entrepreneurial support programs. His doctoral dissertation explored critical risk factors influencing angel investor and venture capitalist decision-making processes.
Carson actively engages with students on startup opportunities and contributes to the Anderson Center's initiatives. He emphasizes practical teaching methods informed by his extensive industry experience.
