Sharron MacKenzie

Sharron MacKenzie serves as Senior Lecturer and Course Director for the PGCE Secondary Course at Canterbury Christ Church University's School of Social Work, Education, and Teacher Education, where she also leads Secondary Science tutoring. With 25 years of classroom experience across London, Kent, and Medway schools, she directs initial teacher education programs while maintaining active partnerships with national educational bodies.

Her research focuses on Science and Physics Education with emphasis on pedagogical confidence building and gender equity in STEM. Through her six-year consultancy with the Institute of Physics, she developed evidence-based approaches for the Stimulating Physics project and Improving Gender Balance RCT initiative, directly shaping contemporary science teaching methodologies across UK secondary schools.

MacKenzie's professional practice centers on developing secondary science educators through structured mentorship frameworks and curriculum design, leveraging her extensive school-based experience to bridge theoretical teacher training with classroom realities. She maintains active industry engagement through physics education reform projects while overseeing program accreditation standards for teacher certification.
