Sharon Traweek is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, affiliated with the Department of History and the Department of Gender Studies. Her research focuses on 20th and 21st century technosciences, examining their embodied and gendered performance in subject formation, knowledge crafting, migration, and narrative practices within global political economies. She actively explores the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster, integrating feminist epistemology, science studies, and theories of affect, governmentality, intersectionality, performance, and practice.
