Dr Sharon Nunoo is a Lecturer in Fashion Business at the Manchester Fashion Institute, part of Manchester Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, focusing on heritage identities in textile communities, and a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and Technology from the International Fashion Academy in Paris. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she specializes in fashion marketing research, including corporate heritage identity, sustainability, and Ghanaian secondhand fashion trade.
Her research interests span cultural sustainability, place branding, and identity management processes. Recent work emphasizes heritage preservation in textile production and sustainable supply chain practices. She previously taught Fashion Marketing at the University of Manchester and has professional experience in retail across the USA, France, and Ghana, plus marketing in the oil industry.
Her publications explore themes like Kente textile heritage, community identity in nation branding, and artisan identity through handloom practices. Awards include the Higher Education Academy Fellowship. She is based in Room 2.26, Cavendish South, Manchester Fashion Institute.
