Dr. Sharon Murphy is an Assistant Professor in the School of English at Dublin City University, serving as Research Convenor (2021-2022). She previously led the Master's programs in Children's Literature (St. Patrick's College, 2014-2016) and Children's & Young Adult Literature (DCU, 2016-2019). Her academic background includes a PhD from Trinity College Dublin (focused on Maria Edgeworth) and a First-Class MA from University College Dublin.
Her research explores Romantic/Victorian novels, imperial fiction (especially India), 18th-19th century children's literature, book history, and Maria Edgeworth. Current projects investigate British literary representations of imperial India. She welcomes PhD supervision in these areas.
Teaching spans undergraduate modules on Romantic/Victorian literature, children's literature, and India in 19th-century narratives. She supervises MA theses in Children's Literature studies.
