Sharon Jones

Sharon Jones is a Lecturer in the Department of Ethnic & Psychology at San Francisco State University. As an alumna of SF State, she holds a BS and MA from the institution and contributes to the academic community through teaching and research.

Jones specializes in the historical and sociopolitical impacts of student activism, particularly focusing on the 1968 San Francisco State College strike—the longest in U.S. history. Her work explores how this pivotal event and the broader Civil Rights Movement influenced the educational trajectories of African American students. She also investigates the long-term effects of activism on the social and political development of Black Student Union participants.
