Sharon Green

Sharon Green serves as Professor of Theatre in the Department of Theatre at Davidson College, where her work integrates scholarship, teaching, and community-based theatre practice focused on political and social engagement.

Her academic background includes:

• B.A. from University of Rochester

Dr. Green specializes in performance methodologies that catalyze social dialogue, particularly through Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed techniques. Her research examines theatre's role in bullying prevention initiatives and gender parity efforts in American theatre, with emphasis on contemporary female playwrights. She actively develops community partnerships for performance projects and has led interdisciplinary faculty development programs in Russia and Cuba.

As an educator, she teaches courses including Women’s Work: 21st Century Female Playwrights and Community-Based Performance for Social Justice, and has co-taught the Humanities core sequence Connections and Conflicts since 2020.
