Dr. Sharon Fuller is a Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Planning at Sonoma State University, within the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts. She holds a BS in Conservation and Resource Studies (UC Berkeley, 1994), an MS in Teacher Education (CSU Hayward, 2000), and a PhD in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management (UC Berkeley, 2015).
Her research and teaching focus on African diaspora studies, indigeneity, intersectional feminism, ecology, and environmental justice. She explores themes such as gendered indigenous cultural practices, informal economies, and Black geographies. Notably, her work critiques colonial frameworks in fieldwork methodologies and examines self-representation among marginalized communities.
Dr. Fuller’s publications analyze Indigenous community engagement in settler-colonial contexts, Gullah cultural identity in the Americas, and urban inequality dynamics. Her recent work reflects a commitment to decolonizing academic practices and centering marginalized voices.
