Sharanpal Ruprai

Sharanpal Ruprai is an Associate Professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Winnipeg, affiliated with the Faculty of Cultural Studies. As a writer and interdisciplinary humanities scholar, her work bridges creative practice with academic inquiry in feminist and cultural studies.

• Research Interests: Indigenous and critical race feminism, religious studies, cultural studies, and artistic practice.
• Awards: Shortlisted for the Stephen G. Stephansson Award (2015) and Lambda Literary Awards (2020).
• Current Project: Writing a collection of essays titled Who You Calling a Kaur/Princess?, analyzing religion, gender violence, and identity in Canadian South Asian women’s experiences through comparative analysis of novels, plays, poetry, and films.
