Shanthi Iyer

Shanthi Iyer is a Professor of Nanoengineering at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) at North Carolina A&T State University. She leads research in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)-grown nanowire-based photonic devices, focusing on GaAsSb(N) nanowires for infrared photodetection and optoelectronic applications. Her work includes developing flexible panel displays and next-generation photonic devices.

Her research interests span solid-state physics, nanoengineering, and optoelectronics. She has secured over $10M in DoD grants and directed the Center of Excellence for Battlefield Capability Enhancements. Notable achievements include patents on GaAsSb nanowire structures and awards for advising excellence.

Key publications highlight advancements in nanowire photodetectors, avalanche photodiodes, and Te-doped GaAs nanowire properties. She teaches courses such as NANO 702, NANO 823, and NANO 852, contributing to both education and cutting-edge research.
