Shannon Walsh is an Associate Professor of Theatre History and the Associate Dean for Access and Engagement in the College of Music and Dramatic Arts at Louisiana State University (LSU). She also serves as faculty rector for the Visual and Performing Arts Residential College (VPARC). Her research explores intersections between theatre, sport, and physical culture globally and historically, with a focus on how physical exercise and cultural practices shape identity.

Her scholarly work includes the edited volume Sporting Performance: Politics in Play and the monograph Eugenics and Physical Culture Performance in the Progressive Era: Watch Whiteness Workout. She is also a practicing actor and director, recently staging The Wolves at LSU and in Baton Rouge.
Walsh contributes to academic discourse as series co-editor for Palgrave’s Studies in Theatre and Performance History and as General Editor for the Routledge Performance Archive.
