Shane Martin

Professor Shane Martin is a distinguished academic and administrator at the University of Essex, where he holds the Anthony King Chair in Comparative Government. He currently serves as Dean of Postgraduate Research and Education, overseeing strategic development of postgraduate programs. Previously, he was Head of the Department of Government (2019–2022) and Deputy Head (2017–2019). His research focuses on legislative organization, electoral incentives, and parliamentary dynamics in comparative democracies. Martin has held significant roles including membership in University Senate and Council, and serves on the Executive Committee of the European Consortium for Political Research (2024–2030).
