About
Shane A. Liddelow, PhD, is an Associate Professor at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, with appointments in the Departments of Neuroscience and Ophthalmology. His research focuses on reactive astrocytes and their role in neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, and disease mechanisms.
He leads the Liddelow Lab, which investigates astrocyte biology using single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and in vitro disease models. Key affiliations include the Institute for Translational Neuroscience, Parekh Center for Interdisciplinary Neurology, and the Dark Matter Project at NYU Langone Health.
His work has significant implications for neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, glaucoma, and stroke. Recent publications highlight discoveries in astrocyte gene expression, lipid-mediated neurotoxicity, and spatial heterogeneity in the CNS.
