Shanda Sibley

Shanda Sibley is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, directing the Systemic Justice Clinic at the Sheller Center for Social Justice. Her work focuses on addressing systemic barriers faced by formerly incarcerated individuals, including 'collateral consequences' such as voting restrictions and financial penalties. She holds a JD from NYU School of Law, an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Comparative Literature from NYU.

Research interests include criminal legal system reforms, prosecutorial discretion, and clinical legal education. She advocates for marginalized communities through both direct client representation and systemic advocacy. In 2019, she received the Podell Distinguished Teaching Award from NYU Law. Currently, she explores academic freedom protections for clinical faculty through a Temple Law Research Fellowship.

Her career includes roles as an appellate public defender, NYU Law’s Associate Director of Lawyering, and litigation experience at international law firms. She clerked for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
