Shahir Safi

Shahir Safi is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the New Economic School (NES) since 2023. He earned his PhD from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (Barcelona School of Economics) in 2018, preceded by an MSc from the Toulouse School of Economics (2012) and a BSc with honors in Economic and Social Sciences from the University of Alberta (2007).

His research focuses on applied microeconomic theory, network theory, and public sector economics, with applications to organizational management, contract theory, and public policy interventions in inter-firm collaboration networks. His recent publications in Games and Economic Behavior analyze optimal monitoring in communication networks and targeting strategies under costly agreements.

Shahir teaches courses in Public Sector Economics and Network Economics at NES. He has held postdoctoral positions at Aix-Marseille University and Concordia University over the past five years.
