Seshadri Venugopal

Seshadri Venugopal is a Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Introductory Instruction in the Computer Science department at Rutgers University. He is affiliated with the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers, with a research focus on Supercomputing and scalable algorithms. He earned a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay).

Dr. Venugopal is the Founding Director of the Computer Science Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP), fostering industry relationships. He authored the textbook Data Structures Outside-In with Java and created popular YouTube videos on data structures and algorithms, with over 1.5 million views. He has received the SAS Award for Distinguished Contributions to Undergraduate Education (2010).

His teaching includes courses like Software Methodology (CS 213) and Data Management for Data Science (CS 210), incorporating Generative AI. He previously taught Data Structures (CS 112), Introduction to Computer Science (CS 111), and developed the CS Honors Capstone sequence. He also taught a Byrne seminar on computing evolution, involving student research in parallel computing.
