Sergio Sandoval, MA, OTD, OTR/L, CHT is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy at the University of Southern California's Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. He holds a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from USC (2014), a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy (2013) from USC, and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management from California State University, Northridge (2007).
His research focuses on healthcare policy, patient experience in healthcare systems, and diabetes self-care management in urban Latino young adults. He contributed to the REAL Diabetes randomized controlled trial as a research assistant and taught graduate courses in Kinesiology and Neuroscience during his tenure at USC. Currently, he teaches the Principles of Hand Rehabilitation course and maintains a full-time clinical practice in outpatient hand and upper extremity rehabilitation.
Dr. Sandoval specializes in treating neurological, orthopedic, and upper extremity conditions, with expertise in traumatic and complex hand injuries. He is a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and actively engages in clinical practice alongside his academic roles.
