Sergi Vidal Torre is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Head of the Generations and Life Course research group at the Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics (CED). He holds an ERC Consolidator Grant (2023-2027) for the LIFELONGMOVE project, exploring spatial mobility across lifespans. He is also a BiB Fellow of the German Federal Institute for Population Research and an ICREA Acadèmia awardee (2023–2027).
His research focuses on family dynamics, spatial mobility, and social inequality, using longitudinal quantitative methods. Key projects include cross-national studies on migration, health disparities in Chile, and family trajectories post-union dissolution. He leads the IUSSP Scientific Panel on Lifetime Migration and collaborates with global institutions like the ARC Life Course Centre.
Publications span migration behavior, residential mobility impacts, and demographic changes. Awards include the Ramón y Cajal Fellowship (2017–2022) and grants from the EU and German Research Council. Collaborations with international teams highlight his global academic reach.
