Sergei Tretyakov is a Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto University, Finland. He served as Visiting Professor at the Abbe School of Photonics in 2012 and is Principal Investigator at the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Smart Radios and Wireless Research (SMARAD). Previously, he founded and directed the Complex Media Electromagnetics Laboratory at St. Petersburg State Technical University.
Research focuses on electromagnetic theory, artificial materials, and energy applications:
- Fundamental electromagnetics of chiral and bianisotropic media
- Metamaterial design for wireless/optical systems
- Microwave and antenna technology innovations
- Solar/thermal energy harvesting solutions
Awards include IEEE Fellowship for contributions to artificial electromagnetic media. Coordinated the FP6 European Network of Excellence Metamorphose and chairs the international Metamorphose VI association.
