University of Wisconsin-MadisonAbout
Selva Marroquin is Assistant Professor of Geoscience at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, specializing in sedimentary isotope biogeochemistry and paleoclimate research.
Her work uses geological records of past warming events to understand Earth system feedbacks relevant to modern climate change. Current projects examine organic sulfur isotopes as environmental proxies, Carboniferous carbonate systems, and thermal maturation effects on shale geochemistry.
Her research integrates fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and mass spectrometry to reconstruct paleoenvironmental conditions during extinction events and climatic transitions.
She mentors graduate student Kayla McCabe and leads field expeditions in Alaska and other locations.
