Selene States is a Teaching Professor of Fine Art and Textiles at Loughborough University, with a practice-based PhD candidate at Bauhaus University Weimar. Her research explores the radical history of women’s fashion through performance, textile reproduction, and interdisciplinary art practices. She holds a diploma in Fine Arts from the State Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe, and has exhibited globally.

Research Interests: Selene’s work interrogates themes of cultural reproduction, gendered labor in art history, and the materiality of fashion. Key projects include the Syncopation dance film (2012) and the DELINATE Bauhaus exhibition (2021), exploring how design patterns embody cultural memory.
Awards: Over 30 grants and recognitions including the DAAD Teaching Stipend, Bauhaus Travel Grant, and Camillo-Michele Gloria Prize. Her work has been featured at museums like Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
