Seda Kalem Berk is Associate Professor at Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law and expert researcher at the Human Rights Law Research Center. She holds a PhD in Sociology from The New School (2010), where her thesis won the Albert Salomon Memorial Award, and an MA from the same institution.
Her research examines law in action through:
- Courtroom ethnographies
- Access to justice barriers
- Legal consciousness studies
- Alternative dispute mechanisms
- Legal profession dynamics
Key publications analyze criminal legal aid systems, civil court proceedings, and protection laws through judge/prosecutor narratives. She advocates for judicial reforms through projects with TESEV (Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation).
