About
Sebastien Mosser is an Associate Professor of Software Engineering at McMaster University's Faculty of Engineering, affiliated with the McSCert Lab. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PEng) in Ontario and contributes to research in software composition, domain-specific languages, and model-driven engineering with applications in safety-critical systems and DevOps.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Computer Science, Université Nice - Sophia Antipolis (2010)
- M.Sc., Software Engineering, Université Nice - Sophia Antipolis (2007)
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Inria Lille-Nord Europe (2011)
His research interests span software composition, domain-specific languages, and variability management, with applications in machine learning pipelines, cyber-physical systems, and DevOps. He focuses on creating safety models for non-critical domains, improving requirements engineering practices, and exploring language server protocols for better developer experience. Recent work includes jPipe, a domain-specific language for justification diagrams.
Recent publications explore topics like polyglot software development, microservice traceability, and functional feasibility analysis in variability-intensive systems. A recurring theme in his work is the intersection of software architecture, modeling, and safety considerations in diverse application areas.
- Scientific Awards:
- Best Reviewer Award (2024, MODELS)
- Best Reviewer Award (2021, MODELS)
- Best Paper Award (2018, SAC)
- Prime d'Encadrement Doctoral et de Recherche (2015-2019)
As an educator, he has taught courses on microservice architectures, software requirements, and software design. He actively contributes to MDE teaching initiatives and has developed open-source tools like jPipe and Island for educational purposes.
