Sebastian Wedler

Dr. Sebastian Wedler is an Assistant Professor of Musicology at Utrecht University’s Department of Media and Culture Studies, Faculty of Humanities. His research focuses on music analysis and criticism from the 19th century to the present, integrating critical theory and ecocriticism, and examining the epistemology of music theory.

Education: Holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, where he was a Prize Scholar at Merton College. Previously studied Musicology, Law, and Psychology at the Universities of Zurich and Durham.

Research Trends: His work spans musical modernism, the representation of nature and temporality in music, and philosophical discourses on musical thought. He has contributed to journals like Music Analysis and Twentieth-Century Music, as well as edited companions such as The Cambridge Companion to Music and Romanticism.
