Sebastian Watzl is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oslo, specializing in philosophy of mind with focus on attention and consciousness. He leads the ERC Consolidator Grant project GOODATTENTION and the Norwegian Research Council-funded Salient Solutions initiative.
His research examines how attention structures conscious experience and connects to agency, perception, and ethics. Recent publications develop the 'priority structure account' of attention and explore ethical dimensions of attentional practices.
Professor Watzl directs the interdisciplinary Convergence Environment on Consciousness and co-founded the Center for Philosophy and the Sciences. His awards include the Sister Dals Research Prize and Young Talented Researchers Grant.
