Sebastian Schindler

Dr. Sebastian Schindler is an Assistant Professor at the Geschwister Scholl Institute of Political Science, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich). From October 2024 to September 2025, he will serve as a Temporary Replacement Assistant Professor of International Security at Goethe University Frankfurt.

• Research Focus: The relationship between theory and practice, post-truth politics, critical theory, practice theory, and international organizations.
• Education: Studied political science, history, philosophy, and sociology in Munich, Paris, and Minneapolis; earned his Ph.D. from Goethe University Frankfurt with a thesis on explanation and accusation.

His 2024 habilitation project investigates critique in post-truth politics, addressing pseudo-critical thinking, political crisis, and responses to ideological cynicism. Recent publications span critical theory, post-truth politics, and international security in journals like Millennium and International Theory.

• Previous Positions: Research fellow at the Cluster of Excellence 'Normative Orders' and Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF); spokesperson for the junior research group 'International Relations' at the German Political Science Association (DVPW).
• International Experience: Visiting researcher at Universities of Sussex, Groningen, Minnesota, and Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB).
• Practical Involvement: Internships at the United Nations World Food Programme (Swaziland), French National Assembly, and Germany's Permanent Mission to World Food Organizations (Rome).
