Sebastian Renner

Dr. Sebastian Renner is a Visiting Professor and Research Associate at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, Department of Economics. He obtained his PhD from the University of Göttingen and previously held postdoctoral positions at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA).

His research focuses on environmental and development economics, examining how environmental policies, energy transitions, and climate interventions impact poverty alleviation, economic inequality, and sustainable development pathways in emerging economies. His work employs econometric analysis, household surveys, and policy evaluation frameworks to assess distributional consequences of decarbonization.
