About
Sebastian Pannasch is a Professor of Engineering Psychology and Applied Cognition at TU Dresden's Faculty of Science. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. (2003) and Habilitation (2012) from TU Dresden, with additional research experience at Aalto University (2009-2012) and UC Santa Cruz (2008). His research focuses on perception, attention, and eye movement dynamics in active vision, particularly in scene perception and human-machine interaction. He investigates fixation patterns, their link to cognitive processing modes, and applications in safety-critical domains like driving. His work spans basic science (e.g., neural correlates of gaze behavior) and applied contexts (e.g., gaze-based control systems).
Education:
- 1999: Diploma in Psychology and Medicine, TU Dresden
- 2003: PhD (Dr. rer. nat.), TU Dresden
- 2012: Habilitation, TU Dresden
Research interests include oculomotor behavior, ambient/focal attention, and translational applications in health and technology. His recent work explores executive functions in self-structured tasks and the impact of visual design patterns on decision-making.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches, with studies in NeuroImage, Journal of Eye Movement Research, and Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. Collaborations include projects on ALS oculomotor deficits and VR-based visuomotor adaptation.
