Sebastian Kalamajski

Sebastian Kalamajski is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Laboratory Science at the Faculty of Natural Science, Department of Bioanalysis. His research bridges experimental genetics and data science to study functional genetic variation impacting human health, with primary focus on type 2 diabetes and obesity-related metabolic disorders.

Research Interests:

• CRISPR-based allele substitution in fat and beta cells
• Identification of causal genetic variants for disease phenotypes
• Adipose tissue hyperplasia and insulin responsiveness
• International collaborations with Lund University, Broad Institute/Harvard, and Ulm University
• Integration of data science and experimental methodologies

Recent Publication Trends:2024 articles examine social trust genetics, PPARGC1B variants in adiposity, and molecular modeling of genetic risks using stem cells. Earlier works (2023) focus on phenome-wide analyses of obesity-diabetes discordance.
