Sebastian Gabrielsson is an Associate Professor of Nursing and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Luleå University of Technology (LTU). He holds a PhD in Nursing (2015) and is a registered nurse specializing in psychiatric care. His research focuses on recovery-oriented psychiatric care, qualitative methodologies, and patient involvement in research. He currently leads the Recovery-oriented Psychiatric Care research area within LTU's Nursing program. Gabrielsson has held roles as Arctic Six Chair (2024–2026) and serves as a reviewer for academic journals and national agencies like the Swedish Research Council (FORTE).
Teaching activities include developing flexible online education in psychiatric nursing since 2006, with a focus on relational pedagogy. He authored textbooks such as Nurse in Psychiatric 24-hour Care: Textbook for Rebels and Treatment in Psychiatry: Meetings that Promote Recovery. His research is funded by internal/university grants and external bodies, emphasizing user perspectives in mental health care.
