Sebastian Ebert is a Professor of Economics and Head of the Chair of Economic Theory I at Heidelberg University's Alfred-Weber-Institute for Economics. He previously held professorships at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and Tilburg University. His research focuses on behavioral economics, finance, and decision-making under uncertainty, integrating insights from economics, statistics, and psychology.
Education: PhD in Economics (summa cum laude) from the University of Bonn (2011), M.Sc. in Economics (with highest honors), M.Sc. in Statistics, and B.Sc. in Mathematics with Physics minor. His editorial roles include Operations Research, Geneva Risk and Insurance Review, and Journal of Risk and Insurance.
Research Interests: Behavioral Finance & Insurance, Risk Psychology, Negotiation Strategies, and Time-Consistent Decision Models. He has received grants from ERC, DFG, and NWO, and was named one of Germany's top 10 young economists by WirtschaftsWoche (2021).
Teaching: Extensive experience across undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs at institutions like ETH Zurich and Mannheim Business School. Awarded 'Best Lecturer' for his Behavioral Finance course at Tilburg University.
