Sebastian Andreas Simon

Sebastian Andreas Simon is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Psychology within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. His work bridges computer science and psychology to advance understanding of technology-enhanced collaborative learning through interdisciplinary methodologies.

He holds a PhD in Computer Science, where he specialized in mobile Augmented Reality interactions for collaborative learning environments. His doctoral research implemented and evaluated novel AR frameworks in real-world mCSCL settings.

Simon's current research investigates two critical frontiers: (1) Large Language Model-powered chatbots for regulating group dynamics and scaffolding knowledge construction in collaborative learning, and (2) social presence mechanisms in virtual reality environments. His approach integrates cognitive psychology with AI development to decode complex social-cognitive processes, emphasizing practical applications in educational technology.

As a member of the virtual learning lab, he actively cultivates cross-disciplinary collaborations to pioneer next-generation learning systems that respond to emergent technological capabilities and pedagogical needs.
