Sean Mondesire

Dr. Sean Mondesire is an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF), affiliated with the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) since 2023. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Big Data Analytics (2018–2021) and as an Assistant Research Professor at IST (2021–2023). He directs the Human-centered AI Lab and has held leadership roles as Undergraduate Program Director for the B.S. in Computer Science and Graduate Program Director for M.S. programs in Big Data Analytics and Cybersecurity Analytics.

Dr. Mondesire’s research focuses on Autonomous Multi-agent Systems, Digital Twins, Big Data Analytics, and Distributed Computing Architectures, with applications in Cybersecurity, Defense, Education, and Microelectronics. His work integrates Machine Learning and Simulation Scaling to develop scalable solutions for complex systems.

His recent publications (2022–2023) highlight advancements in IoT security, swarm intelligence, continual learning, and educational data mining. These studies bridge Cybersecurity and Machine Learning through simulation-based approaches.

Dr. Mondesire has led educational initiatives, including the design of cybersecurity courses like Cybersecurity: A Multidisciplinary Approach and Behavioral Aspects of Cybersecurity. He contributes to UCF’s Digital Twin research through NSF-funded projects, such as the $8.8M federal grant for the Digital Twin Initiative and a $1M grant to strengthen modeling and simulation programs.

The Human-centered AI Lab, under his direction, explores adaptive automated forces, student performance modeling, and predictive analytics in cybersecurity contexts. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration across Defense and Education.
