Sean Markey

Sean Markey is an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University (SFU), affiliated with the School of Resource and Environmental Management and the Department of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. His research and professional work focus on local and regional economic development, rural and small-town development, community sustainability, and sustainable infrastructure.

Education:

• BA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia (UBC)
• MES in Environmental Studies from York University
• PhD in Economic Geography from Simon Fraser University

Professional Affiliations: Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) and Registered Professional Planner (RPP).

His research emphasizes sustainable community development through collaborations with municipalities, non-profit organizations, Aboriginal communities, and the business sector. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation and the Vancity Community Foundation.
