Sean Kelly is Professor of Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness at California Institute of Integral Studies. He holds a PhD in Religious Studies from University of Ottawa and previously taught at Canadian universities including University of Windsor and Carleton University. His research explores the evolution of consciousness, integral ecologies, and transpersonal theory through interdisciplinary approaches bridging philosophy, psychology, and ecology.
Kelly has authored several influential books including Becoming Gaia: On the Threshold of Planetary Initiation and Coming Home: The Birth and Transformation of the Planetary Era. He has also co-edited significant collections such as Psyche Unbound: Essays in Honor of Stanislav Grof and The Variety of Integral Ecologies, while translating works of French thinker Edgar Morin.
Beyond academia, Kelly has extensive training in Chinese internal arts (taiji, bagua, xingyi) and teaches taiji, having practiced since 1990. He is a trained facilitator in The Work that Reconnects methodology developed by Joanna Macy.
