Sean Joe

Sean Joe is the Benjamin E. Youngdahl Professor of Social Development at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis. As Associate Dean for Faculty and Research, he focuses on reducing racial disparities through community science initiatives.

• Key projects: HomeGrown STL (multi-systemic intervention for Black males aged 12-29)

His research spans Black adolescent mental health, suicidal behavior prevention, and structural barriers to social mobility. Projects integrate salivary biomarker studies, father-focused interventions, and epistemological analysis of racial concepts in medical/social sciences.
