Sean Graham

Sean Graham is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of History at Carleton University. His research focuses on North American media, broadcasting, and cultural history, with a particular emphasis on gender dynamics in early radio and the evolution of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He holds a B.A. from Nipissing University, an M.A. from the University of Regina, and a Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa.

His work bridges academic scholarship with public history, including hosting the History Slam podcast for Activehistory.ca and collaborating with the Ottawa Police Association on historical documentation.

His publications analyze topics like gender representation in 1930s radio, CBC television precursors, and R.B. Bennett’s political narratives. Beyond academia, Graham contributes to public discourse through blogs and encyclopaedia entries on American culture and Great War commemoration.

Grants and Fellowships: His Harvard fellowship supported research into international broadcasting dynamics. Current projects include documenting the Ottawa Police Association’s history and podcast production.
