Dr Sean Curran is a Research Fellow at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, and serves as a College Teaching Officer in Music and English. He joined the Faculty of Music in July 2014 after completing his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley in 2013.
He earned his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2013. His dissertation focused on the "La Clayette" manuscript (Paris, BnF, n.a.f. 13521), examining the vernacular circulation and devotional use of the thirteenth-century motet.
Dr Curran's research spans Medieval Music Manuscript Studies, Palaeography, and Codicology, with a focus on the analysis of early song and historical music cognition. His current book project, Voice from the Archive: Old Music and the Motet around 1300 CE, investigates evolving medieval perspectives on the history of polyphonic song.
