Sean Comber

Sean Comber is a Visiting Professor in Environmental Chemistry at the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Plymouth. He serves as Associate Head of School (Knowledge Exchange) and oversees the MSc Environmental Consultancy programme. His roles include teaching modules on environmental legislation, waste management, and quality assurance.

Research interests focus on pollution mitigation, water quality, and pharmaceutical impacts in ecosystems. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and supervised 10 PhDs since 2012, with projects funded by organizations like Commonwealth Scholarship Programme, Wessex Water, and AstraZeneca.

Notable supervisions include studies on antiretroviral uptake in wastewater, phosphorus management in Somerset Levels, and metal speciation in estuaries. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly improving freshwater quality.

Previous professional experience includes roles at Atkins (2005–2011) and WRc (1989–2005), where he contributed to environmental consultancy and toxicology research.
