Sean A. Pager

Sean A. Pager is a Professor of Law and Associate Director of the Intellectual Property, Information & Communications Law Program (IPIC) at Michigan State University's College of Law. He previously taught as a visiting professor at University of Richmond, Seattle University, and Indiana University-Bloomington.

• Education: LL.M. from European University Institute (Fulbright Fellowship), J.D. from U.C. Berkeley (Boalt Hall), and A.B. from Harvard University.

Research Focus: Explores how intellectual property regimes influence development and cultural identities, particularly in creative industries (e.g., indie filmmakers, musicians) and legal capacity building in the developing world. Key interests include traditional knowledge, cultural heritage rights, and geographical indications.

Professional Experience: Former litigation associate at Howard Rice (San Francisco) and clerk for Judge James Browning (Ninth Circuit). Currently serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the Copyright Alliance and the Association of Teachers and Researchers in Intellectual Property Law.
